I started Hope for Skin because I wanted an effective, natural moisturizer that could keep up with my skin’s needs.

Living in Colorado means living with dry air year-round. My skin and hair were always thirsty, and unless I was applying lotion several times a day, I’d be visibly ashy. In middle and high school, I remember classmates calling me “crusty” or comparing my hair to a brillo pad. It wasn’t just embarrassing — it was discouraging. I wanted a product that truly worked, not just something that made me look moisturized for a little while. I longed for something that would actually heal and strengthen my skin and hair over time.

For years, I dreamed about making my own moisturizer, but I didn’t take the leap until I became a mom. When my daughter was born, she had the same dry skin I struggled with — only worse. Her skin was itchy, scaly, and so uncomfortable that she would wake up scratching in the night, sometimes breaking the skin. My heart ached watching her suffer. And when she started trying to eat the store-bought lotions I used on her, I became desperate for something that was safe, natural, and truly effective.

That’s when I began creating my own recipes. At first, I experimented with lotions, but I didn’t like how water-based formulas required more chemicals, emulsifiers, and preservatives. Eventually, I discovered the power of body butters — rich, water-free blends of natural oils and butters. They had the perfect texture, worked beautifully on both hair and skin, and most importantly, they brought my daughter relief.

I began sharing my butters with friends and family, and their response was overwhelming: they loved them as much as I did. Since 2018, I’ve been perfecting my recipes privately, and now I’m ready to share them more widely with my community.

Every batch of Hope for Skin is prayed over, because I believe prayer changes things. These butters are more than skincare — they are a reflection of care, hope, and love. I use them every day, and I love hearing how others have made them part of their own routines.
